So I'd be lying right now if I didn't say I was a little disheartened. The weather has just been so bad for so much of this trip. It basically rained the entire time I was in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and now Montana. At least it turned to snow for a while today, which was a welcome change of pace. With the low lying clouds I couldn't see the best sights of Glacier but it is still beautiful country.
I don't exactly know what I'm going to do next, I was planning on heading down to Yellowstone but now I'm wondering if there is a point. Let me explain. The vast majority of the roads in Yellowstone are closed for the winter, you can only travel the park via snow mobile or snowcoach. Okay, not a problem, I was actually really looking forward to doing a snow mobile tour. So I called today to reserve a spot, only one problem: there is no snow. It has been unseasonably warm all year.
Well Shit.

So with the exception of a small patch of road between the North and Northeast entrances the rest of the park is fully inaccessible to me. *sigh*

I guess I'll just start driving tomorrow and then figure it out later.

As for the above video I processed it a little differently today, instead of using the photos taken at 5 second intervals I took 1080p video and speed it up 42x and displayed it at 60fps. It's a little slower and clearer as a result, it takes a lot longer to process and only really worked today because I didn't have as much footage to deal with.

Really the best way to experience those two parks would be August/September. Full access and no snow. That's when we saw them. It was amazing both places. Bummer that you weren't able to get the best experience out of it though,

Yeah, I mean I knew this wasn't going to be the ideal season for a road trip, but I didn't exactly have any other options. And I didn't expect the weather to be this bad. I was expecting more snow and less rain, I really wanted to do that snowmobile tour.

First, excellent traveling music.

Second, one could comment on the time of year for such a trip. I shall not.

Third, if I was a video program wizard, I'd take your video and auto-process the wipers out of it. (Absolutely sure that could be done.) Then it would be even more awesome.

Fourth, I know the rain thing. My wife and I finally got used to to the fact that if we landed for a vacation, it was going to rain, continue raining and be wet for the duration. My personal best rain story? Dry underwear after 6 days of steady downpour in a collapsible kayak in AK peninsula. Boy that felt good, at least for a few minutes.

Fifth, yea baby, keep on truckin'. Something is bound to turn up. Even if it's only what's going on inside you.

Yeah, I went during the summer because I was out of school and I couldn't afford to miss nearly a month of school. Plus towing a trailer in the middle of winter through the Dakotas, Montana, and Minnesota would've sucked.

Yeah this isn't the ideal time of year for a road trip, but it is the time I have off before I start my new job next year. I'm no video wizard, I have no idea how one would go about doing that. I'm just compiling the video using the gopro software and adding music.

I swear I'm just bringing the rain with me wherever I go before I got to LA they hadn't had rain for like 6 months of something.

Right now I'm thinking I'm going to skip Yellowstone all together. There's not much I'll be able to see and it'll save me two days off my schedule which should allow me to take a longer break once I get to Detroit.
